English earthenware flatback figure depicting James Blomfield Rush; he is standing bare-headed with a speech in his right hand and his left hand resting on a pedestal - possibly representing the courtroom dock; he wears a frock coat, cravat, waistcoat and trousers; moulded, hollow with hole in base; well coloured in underglaze blue coat, overglaze painted in enamel colours of green waistcoat, pink trousers, black cravat, hair, shoes and beard; gold decoration and 'James B; rush' painted in gold on the stand; orange pedestal and cheeks, pink face, red lips; glaze crazed and blue where pooled; made 1849
