How to search the collections |

Norfolk Museums Service cares for around 3 million objects, most have been catalogued and we have over 500,000 related digital records. This website offers almost 200,000 records which are a representative sample across the curatorial departments. We are working hard to publish more data in the future. You can explore the collections site in a number of ways: To search the collections:
To browse the collections:Using the Collections tab you can explore themed collections pages which contain star objects chosen by our curators. We have identified common themes which cut across collections in all museums and departments Through these pages you will be taken on a journey of exploration through the collections. The objects often have more than just one story to tell, so many of them appear in a variety of themes. The content of these sections will be added to on a regular basis and further themes developed. Using the Tags tab you can discover object records which have been tagged by other users of the site – click on any term in the tag cloud to take you to the related objects. Please feel free to add any tags to object records, or make a comment – the more tags you enter the richer the tag cloud will be for other users. It may be that you can help identify aspects of the collections or enhance the data – we welcome any information you can offer. Within some of the object records you may see a highlighted subjects heading, if you select any of these you will be taken to other related records. Enjoy your journey through many of the wonderful collections that we care for. |
